My Optiplex 7010 has your usual onboard sound configuration - speaker and microphone jacks in both the front and rear. Recently my USB headset (which I use for conference calls) developed a short and while I wait for a new set to arrive, I'm temporarily using an old set that still needs mini stereo jacks. Speaker Audio Jack is plugged at the rear green hole but it doesnt work unless. I plug a headphone or another 3.5mm jack to the front green audio hole. Series X/One, Nintendo Switch, And PC. On cars equipped with a rear speaker, a second sub-harness (with matching 3-terminal plugs) is jumpered in between the radio and front speaker harness. This sub-harness connects to a fader control (that slides over the RH tuner shaft) and is used to divide the radio's single speaker output between the front and rear speakers. The first selects the headphones in front jack and 2nd option selects the speakers in rear jack. Problem Selecting the 2nd option (speakers) works for about 5 seconds. The sound comes out of speakers and not headphones, which is correct. It then switches and sound only comes out of headphones and speakers are silent. Click on Control panel and click on Sound. Playback tab click on the speakers and click on properties. Click on Level tab and check if the rear input is set to mute and uncheck it. Select the level to 100% and check if the rear speaker works fine.

For the moment we want to see all disabled and disconnected Devices. Later on you can deactivate both checkmarks. Similar to my example picture you should have a 2nd output device (Realtek or VIA) that might be disabled at the moment, then enable it. Now you are ready to go and use the split ports.
